Fishing in Saskatchewan

Last week I went fishing with 40 other veterinarians at Reindeer lake, Saskatchewan, Canada.  We flew to Saskatoon, took a 5-hour bus ride north, and finally a 2 hour float plane cruise to the lodge.  Total trip took 14 hours.

Every where I looked there was water.  It rained for most all of the three days that we fished, but we had a great time and caught lots of fish.

We were far enough north that darkness came at midnight and left at about 3 a. m.  I found it difficult to sleep in the daylight.  We all had a great time, but had to return home on Wednesday.  Can't share all of the pictures here......maybe more with some of you at the cabin.

Life lessons with Jerry.

Hello all,
I have decided to take it upon myself in a moment of down time to put up some pretty important life lessons. They will be far between, as they are written by me; Jerry the Prussian duck. They will be slow because I have no fingers which means I have to hire a ghost writer, and funds are short right now. I is a Conquistador of sorts. I like to find new things and exploit them.
Today's lesson is that we should respect Vodka in hotel rooms in Chicago. I mention this, because I have learned from experience that it is hard to walk around expo centers at 7AM after a long night with cousin Heritage. It's just not a good idea. You end up sitting in a room listening to a presentation and everytime that the amp gives off even a little bit of feedback, your helmet is ringing for hours.
Let's all make a deal that we respect Vodka from now on. Ok? Deal...for a few months.

~ As our former Chancellor Otto Von Bismark once said. "The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they'll sleep at night”

The Garden 2.0

I've been working hard at the garden again this summer.  We had a drain field failure that resulted in the nightmare at left early this spring.  I didn't know how many plants I had lost since nothing was out of the ground yet, and there was a huge ugly bare patch of sand instead of trees and greenery beyond the fence.

This was the same area midsummer last year.  Still lots of grass to get rid of, and the ferns and other plants were pretty small.

Later in the summer we were here.  Things were moving along pretty well.

This was the same area yesterday.  Larger plants, a little bit of green coming in over the drain field, thanks to two truckloads of dirt, 50 bags of compost, a box of wildflower seeds and Matt and Erin and Gary and a tractor.

At the rate I'm going, I figure I'll be done by at least 2016.

Sensational dinner

We had a great dinner.

And also a great Tennis Davis turnament game. that means we won...

As you can see, Odi and Sara are very excited about tennis. We found out that when Odi is extremelly excited, he can actually change the shape of his nose.

Look at this video, and make note of this phenomena. I think it can be a guinness record...
