It's about 10,000 km from Israel to Michigan. It's mostly water, and a little land, but it's nothing we can't bridge with a satellite or some fiber optics! This site is all about keeping the Sharons and Koesters in sync. It should be a good place to talk about...whatever! If you go to Eilat, tell us about it! If you went to Canada last weekend, write a mini-novel about it here. |

Fish Tank
So, for my birthday this year wifey let me set up a saltwater reef tank in the apartment. Here's where we stand so far. Right now we are in the cycling stage where ammonia is being created, then that will turn into nitrite etc. So there are no fish as of yet, but they will be put up when we get them. Not sure what will end up in there, but there are lots of small colorful fish that are in the running. So here's the tank itself
Right now we just have invertebrates (spineless creatures). They are in there to keep the algae under control. This guy is a Mexican Turbo Snail. He's the biggest snail in the tank and actually pretty neat looking. When he eats, he looks like a sea cow eating. He basically eats, then forces himself under a rock. His name is Barry.
On the odder side, this is a sea mushroom. These little guys basically filter feed, but sometimes they like little chunks of food. They catch it on the flower shaped part, then contract and pull it in to their mouth.
This is the little guy after contracting to eat a hunk of shrimp.
This is another snail eating algae off the class. There are four of these in the tank, all named Gary.
These guys are Crabs. The big one is an Emerald Crab, and the other, just a little hermit. They are here to eat the green stuff you see in the aquarium. The big one is named pinchy, the little guy with the shell is named Mr. Krabs.
Ummm.. That's all I've got for now.
