Weekend in Canada
As ordered by my eldest son, I am posting pictures and commentary from last weekend.
The snow was mostly gone, but the lakes were still frozen. The temperature was -5 C at night and +10 C during the day.
We went for a hike toward Lake Lauzon. Most of the creeks like these have little or no water in them in the summer. They are the result of melting snow at higher elevations, and are very cold.
Grady went for his first swim of the spring. The water was a little to cold for Sandy, and I forgot my swim suit.
The picture on the right was taken on a rock plateau near the top of a high rock ridge, approximately 400 meters above sea level. Nothing much grows up there except pine trees, juniper bushes, and moss. I will buy, at Keren's and Ben's wedding, the beverage of your choice for the Israeli person who first correctly identifies the origin of the trail of spherical boulders pictured here.
When we reached the summit it was time for lunch. Then, while Sandy and Grady continued to explore, looking for a better view of Lake Lauzon and beyond, I practiced my transcendental meditation and became one with nature.
That night we invited the neighbors over for dinner.
They said to say hi!
The guy with the fork is my friend, Dave. He's mostly harmless.

Good work, Dad!
For reference, the first picture on there is part of the lake out behind the cabin...doesn't look so good for ice skating anymore.
My guess on those rocks in the picture is that it's spring and they're migrating.
The rest of the people in the cabin dinner picture, from left to right, are Brenda (Dave's wife), Diane, Gary, Klaus (the local German resort owner, Diane's husband), Dave, and Jennifer, (Dave and Brenda's daughter).
fossil dinosaur droppings?
good guess......but no beer for you!
Native canadians used these round rocks as wheels, to roll glaciers down the hill.
Wow! I knew it all came down to glaciers in Canada. What happened to the glaciers when they got to the bottom of the hill?
They used nuclear explosions form the abundant uranium to make the glaciers receed.....And then they launched the nuclear waste into space on primitive rockets..... I know this because I'm an engineer.
oh, i know! leftover passover eggs!
Maybe passover eggs from a year or so ago. They're a bit off-color...sort of old.
