Birthday cake

Coming soon: ...Dori's birthday cake. After we take the picture. hope it survives the night... and the ride...

- May 20, 2006 -
... so here it is!
It several hours to prepare, and contains about 8 cups flour, 8 eggs, 500 gr butter, 1/2 cup cacao, milk, and lots of frosting... let's not worry about calories, ok?

several views of the cake... The body is made of chocolate and vanilla sponge cake, the wheels are oreos, the lights are gum drops, the reflectors are sour stripes, and the exhasts are "gliliot" waffles. Windows, fenders and trucker are made of sugar dough. The load is all sorts of candy, cookies and marshmellow. yummy.

Dori and his uncle Oren, ready to blow the candle.

Left: aunt Keren cutting the cake, Dori, uncle Oren and safta Dalia are watching. Middle: great safta Sara, Dori, safta Shoshi, safta Dalia, uncle Oren and his girlfriend Ilona. Right: two grandpas (Oddi and Zvika) and one uncle (Oren) trying to figure out how to work the electric train. Ilona on the left, and Ben, not helping the effort, in the background.

Dori and his parents

This is what's left at the end of the party. I guess the cake was too much for us :)

I can vouch that it not only looks good, but also tastes good.

Next year we want a train.

There's still some left. Keren's officemates didn't even come close to finishing it off. I'm sure Boris the Fisherman is starting to get nervous though. I think his days are numbered.

I resent the "not helping out in the effort comment". You can clearly see in the picture that I'm watching the cake to make sure Boris doesn't drive it away.

Wow! Good job on the cake, Keren. Is that supposed to be Boris the Russian fisherman driving?
So did the train ever get put together?

It was me. I had cake for lunch. Sorry.

Boris the Fisherman was spared. He is now in suspended animation in the freezer. When the technology exists, we will thaw him out and find out what life was like back when he was alive.
