Our car
Our car is fully equipped to battle life in Chicago:
Car ornament (it used to be air freshener, a few years ago. now it's just decoration, and helps us recognize our car in parking lots).
Time showing device. it has a systematic error of about 2 hours, since it still shows the daylight-saving time in ann arbor. good thing astrophysicists know how to subtract. or add. which one is it ?!?

I could be wrong of course, but I think it's possible to manually adjust the time-showing device to be accurate for your current location. There's often a small booklet in the little compartment on the right end of the dashboard to help you deal with such unprecedented situations. ;)
well, Sandy, real men don't need the booklet.
glad to inform, that the booklet was found and the time flows normally now. hurray.
UPDATE: The main part of "Our Car", i.e. the car is out of commission until further notice. As of my birthday, Thursday, it is no longer registered in any state, and we have to wait to get another title from the State of Michigan before it's registered in Illinois. So I guess we'll be using the Chicago Transit Authority to get around town next week.
